What's FIRST Robotics?
FIRST Robotics means "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology." FIRST is an organization that sponsors robotics competitions all over the United States. Founded by Dean Kamen, famous inventor and entreprenuer, FIRST gives students the opportunity to learn and exercise skills in mathematics, business, teamwork, engineering, science, and technology.

What Do Your Robots Do?
Every season, FIRST robotics releases "games," or challenges in which the robots must compete. There is a different game for every year and for every league. So, for 2014, the FRC game had to do with shooting large yoga-style balls over tresses and passing them to teammates. The FRC 2014 robot had to be built to compete in this specific game, and therefore was created to do specific tasks the game required.

Where Does Shockwave Get Their Funding?
Dover Shockwave Robotics is an independent not-for-profit group. As such, we do all of our own fundraising, and rely on sponsors to support us for parts and competition fees. Our school provides a space for us to work in, and a complete list of our current sponsors can be found on our Sponsors page.
